Introduction
What is cannoli_OS?
cannoli_OS is an opinionated setup for Retro Emulation on Android.
Android has a reputation for being tedious to set up. cannoli_OS looks to change this.
What is an emulator?
An emulator is software that mimics gaming hardware. It allows your Android device to pretend to be a Game Boy, a SNES, a PlayStation, etc.
The Inspiration
I absolutely adore MinUI by Shaun Inman.
No fuss, a focused feature set, and unapologetically opinionated.
I've been yearning for this type of experience on Android.
Without his masterpiece this derivative would not exist.
For that I thank him, and apologize for this bastardization of his creation.
Cut to the chase!
Here is how cannoli_OS is planning to bring the convenience of MinUI to Android.
- Cannoli - a custom frontend / launcher with just the right amount of filling!
- Nonna's Kitchen, a web client that lets you reach into the cookie jar. Upload your legally sourced BIOS files and ROMs, backup saves and more all without having to wrangle files.
The following is not ready for prime-time, but I want you to know about it!
- RicottaArch - an optional fork of RetroArch with a dumb name so the maintainers don't need to support a custom menu driver.
Avoid the rolling pin!
It has to be said. Nonna is too old for prison. And too gangster.
Cannoli does not provide copyrighted materials nor advise you on how to get them.
If you ask for these anywhere (Discord, GitHub, etc.) say goodbye to your knuckles.
Don't be a stranger!
Come hang out with the rest of the Holy Cannoli on Discord!
