Library

Browse your library

  1. Use / on the main menu to highlight a system, Recently Played, Favorites, or Collections.
  2. Press A to open it and see its games.
  3. Use / to scroll through the game list.
  4. Press B to go back to the main menu.

Press R1 to search. Where you search depends on the screen you open it from. If you are on the main menu, it runs a Global Search across your whole library. If launched from inside a platform, collection, or favorites list, it searches just that list.

Search ignores case and accent marks, so typing pokemon matches Pokémon.

  1. From the main menu, press R1 to open Global Search.
  2. Type your search query.
  3. Press Start.

  1. Inside a system's game list, press R1 to search just that system.
  2. Type your search query.
  3. Press Start.

Recently Played

Cannoli tracks your 15 most recently played games. A Recently Played option appears on the main menu automatically after you play your first game.

  1. Highlight a game in Recently Played and press Start to open the context menu.
  2. Select Remove From Recently Played.

Tip

To remove multiple games at once, press Select on the Recently Played list to enter multi-select mode. Select the games you want, then press Start to remove them all.

Favorites

  1. Highlight a game, tool, or port and press Start to open the context menu.
  2. Select Add To Favorites.
  3. The favorited game will now be pinned to the top and appear in the Favorites list.

Tip

To favorite multiple games at once, press Select on the game list to enter multi-select mode. Select the games you want, then press Start to apply the action to all of them.

Note

The Favorites main menu entry can be hidden from Settings → Library. Hiding this menu option does not unfavorite anything and your games keep their star and still sort to the top of the list.

Managing Games

If you have a game highlighted and press Start you will open the context menu. Here you can perform a variety of actions.

  1. Highlight a game, tool, or port and press Start to open its context menu.
  2. Use / to highlight an action.
  3. Press A to perform the action.

From this menu you can:

  • Add To Favorites: pin the game to the top of its list and to Favorites.
  • Manage Collections: add or remove the game from your collections. It is also the only way to take a single game out of one.
  • Emulator Override: run this game with a specific core or emulator instead of the platform default. See Emulator Override for more details.
  • RA Game ID: manually set the game's RetroAchievements ID.
  • Preload Achievements: cache the game's achievement set for offline play.
  • Rename: change the display name. For a ROM this also renames the file on disk and brings its saves and box art along.
  • Delete Art: remove the game's box art.
  • Delete Game: delete the ROM from storage after a confirmation prompt. This cannot be undone.

Tip

Most of these actions work in bulk. Press Select when in a list to enter multi-select mode. Check several games and then press Start. The action you choose from the context menu will be applied to all items you selected.

Collections

Collections let you group anything that Cannoli can launch: games, tools, and ports. Think RPGs or Puzzle Games or Sports Games.

Create a collection

  2. Press Y to create a new collection.
  3. Give the collection a name.

Nested Collections

Collections can be nested inside other collections. This lets you organize things like RPGsJRPGs, CRPGs.

  1. Highlight a collection on the Collections screen and press StartChild Collections.
  2. Toggle the checkboxes to mark which collections should appear as children.
  3. Press A on the parent collection to open it and see its children listed at the top with a / prefix.

Important

Child collections only appear inside their parent. They are removed from the top-level collections list.

Rename or delete a collection

Highlight a collection on the Collections screen and press Start to open the context menu. Here you can choose Rename or Delete.

Tools and Ports

Tools and Ports are two "buckets" for accessing installed Android apps to the main menu. They are perfect for anything you use alongside your games; standalone emulators, Android games, streaming clients, file managers, etc.

Adding apps to a bucket

  1. Open Settings → Library → Manage Tools (or Manage Ports).
  2. Every installed app appears with a checkbox. Press A to tick the ones you want.
  3. Press B to save. The bucket now shows up as an option on the main menu.

These buckets will appear on the main menu once they have a single app added to it.

Inside the list, highlight an app and press Start to access the context menu. Here you can favorite it, add it to a collection, rename it, or remove the shortcut.

Renaming a bucket

Rename either category right from the main menu, the same way you rename a platform.

  1. Highlight Tools or Ports and press Start.
  2. Choose Rename.
  3. Change the name.
  4. Press Start to save.

Reordering

You can reorder platforms, collections, tools, and ports to your liking.

  1. Highlight the item.
  2. Press Select to enter reorder mode.
  3. Use the D-Pad to reposition it.
  4. Press Select again to lock it in.

Content Modes

Cannoli has three modes that control how content is organized on the main menu.

Default

Every main-menu feature is enabled: Recently Played, Favorites, Collections, and then your platforms.

Collections Only

Hides all platforms and hoists your top-level collections up to the main menu (the Collections folder is gone).

Five Game Handheld

Implements Retro Game Corps' Five Game Handheld concept. Pick any collection via the 5GH Collection setting; the games in that collection are hoisted up to the main menu.

Important

Five Game Handheld mode does not restrict you to five games, nor does it modify your library.
