Library
Recently Played
Cannoli tracks your 10 most recently played games. A Recently Played section appears on the main menu automatically
after you play your first game.
To remove a game from the list, highlight it and press Start → Remove From Recently Played.
Tip
To remove multiple games at once, press Select on the Recently Played list to enter multi-select mode. Select the games you want, then press Start to remove them all.
You can hide the Recently Played section entirely from Settings → Library → Recently Played.
Favorites
Highlight a game, tool, or port and press Start to open the context menu.
Then select Add To Favorites. That's it.
A Favorites option will now appear on the main menu.
Unfavoriting works the same: select Remove From Favorites in the context menu.
Tip
To favorite multiple games at once, press Select on the game list to enter multi-select mode. Select the games you want, then press Start to apply the action to all of them.
Collections
Collections let you group anything that Cannoli can launch: games, tools, and ports. Think RPGs or Puzzle Games or
Cat Wallpaper Downloaders.
To create a collection:
- From the Collections screen, press
X - Or highlight a game, press
Start→Manage Collections→X
Give it a name and press Start to save.
When managing a game's membership, the checkboxes show which collections it belongs to. Toggle them to add or remove.
When a game is highlighted while viewing a collection, Start also includes a Remove From Collection option to remove it without opening the membership screen.
To rename or delete a collection, highlight it on the Collections screen and press Start.
Tip
Adding multiple games to a collection at once works just like favorites: press Select on the game list to enter multi-select mode. Select the games you want, then press Start to manage their collection membership together.
Nested Collections
Collections can be nested inside other collections. This lets you organize things like RPGs → JRPGs, CRPGs.
To nest a collection, highlight it on the Collections screen, press Start, and select Child Collections. From
there, toggle which collections should appear as children.
Child collections show up at the top of the parent collection with a / prefix.
Important
Child collections only appear inside their parent. They are removed from the top-level collections list.
Reordering
You can reorder platforms, collections, tools, and ports to your liking.
Highlight the item you want to move, press Select, then use the D-Pad to reposition it. Press Select again to lock
it in.
Managing Games
Highlight a game and press Start to open the context menu. From here you can:
- Favorite / unfavorite
- Manage collection membership
- Emulator override (use a different core or app for this game)
- RA Game ID (manually set the RetroAchievements game ID)
- Rename the game
- Delete art (only shown if box art exists)
- Delete the game
Emulator Override
By default, each game uses the core or app assigned to its platform in Core Mapping. An emulator override lets you override that choice for a single game, useful when one game runs better on a different core or needs a standalone app.
Open the context menu on a game and select Emulator Override to pick from:
- Cannoli's built-in cores
- Any core installed in the selected RetroArch or RicottaArch package
- Any compatible standalone Android app
The picker shows the source of each option (Internal, RetroArch, RicottaArch, or Standalone). To clear an override and go back to the platform default, open the picker again and choose Platform Default.
Content Mode
Cannoli has three content modes that control how the main menu functions.
- Default: has all features for Cannoli's main menu enabled.
- Collections Only: hides all platforms and hoists up collections to the main menu.
- Five Game Handheld: implements Retro Game Corps' Five Game Handheld
concept. When enabled, a collection named
5GHis created. Games in this collection will be hoisted up to the main menu.
Tip
Five Game Handheld mode does not restrict you to five games nor does it modify your library.
Take comfort knowing that the thousands of games you'll never play are still on your device!
This feature is meant to help with the analysis paralysis so prevalent in the hobby.
